DANW Business Insurance

Dog Adventures Northwest is licensed through the State of Oregon, and bonded and insured through the Association for Professional Dog Trainers and the Business Insurers of the Carolinas. To be included in the Dog Adventures Northwest insurance policy, all Independent Contractors must pay $25 to Dog Adventures Northwest to be listed as an "additional insured" for every year they work with the company.

Please note that if you intend to care for dogs under Dog Adventures Northwest and another company concurrently, you must carry professional insurance and also list and furnish payment for Dog Adventures Northwest to be listed as an "additional insured."

For all Contractors, Dog Adventures Northwest covers:

  • costs associated with damage to a client dog
  • costs associated with injury to a client human
  • costs associated with damage to a client's home
  • all deductibles associated with the above claims
  • all legal liability associated with the above claims

For all Contractors, Dog Adventures Northwest does NOT cover...

  • costs associated with damage to a Contractor's home, car, or personal belongings
  • costs associated with injury to a Contractor or a Contractor's dogs
  • deductibles associated with the above claims
  • legal liability with the above claims

Dog Adventures Northwest and all of its Contractors are insured for the following...

Damage to any dog in Dog Adventures Northwest's care (up to $200,000 per occurrence).

The Dog Adventures Northwest policy covers any injuries of client dogs that are sustained at any time a Contractor has "care, control, and custody" of these dogs (ie in a Contractor's car, in the client's home, in a Contractor's home, on the trail, etc.

Damage to a third party dog by a dog in Dog Adventures Northwest's care (up to $200,000 per occurrence).

If a client dog gets into an altercation with a third party dog on the trail, and that third party dog requires veterinary care, Dog Adventures Northwest can cover veterinary bills if necessary. (Note that a Contractor's own dogs are considered "first party," and are not covered under Dog Adventures Northwest insurance, even if they are injured by a client dog. Contractors' animals may be covered under a Contractor's renters' insurance or homeowner's insurance. Contractors also may want to consider procuring health insurance for their own dogs through a quality pet insurance company such as Healthy Paws or Trupanion.)

Damage to a third party person by a dog in Dog Adventures Northwest's care (up to $1,000,000 per occurrence).

If a client dog were to injure a third party person while out adventuring or while in a Contractor's home, Dog Adventures Northwest's insurance would cover that person's medical bills. (Note that Contractors are considered "first party," and also that workers' compensation coverage is not offered to Independent Contractors. This means that Dog Adventures Northwest will not be able to cover a Contractor's medical bills if they sustain an injury while on the job. If a Contractor does not have health insurance through other employment, the Oregon Health Plan, or through a family member's plan, they are encouraged to take out a policy through the Affordable Care Act.

Damage to third party property (up to $200,000 per occurrence).

If a Contractor causes damage to a client's home, Dog Adventures Northwest can cover the damages. (Note that a client's house itself [as opposed to the contents] is insured up to $1,000,000 per occurrence. Note also that a Contractor's home and property is considered "first party;" Dog Adventures Northwest is therefore not able to cover damages to a Contractor's own home or property while they have a dog in your professional care. If a Contractor has renters' insurance or homeowner's insurance, the policy may or may not cover damages incurred while serving in a professional capacity as an Independent Contractor. Contractors will want to discuss this with their own insurance agent to best assess your risk. Dog Adventures Northwest will not cover damage to a Contractor's personal belongings, car, home, or property, or any deductibles or legal suits associated with the these claims.)

IMPORTANT NOTE

The information detailed above is never to be discussed with clients or third parties. In the event of damage to a client's animal or property, or a third party human, animal, or property, Contractors may NOT discuss financial renumeration of any kind. All discussion of financial matters must immediately be referred to the Dog Adventures Northwest Manager.
