All Dog Adventures Northwest workers are hired as Independent Contractors and will receive a Form 1099-MISC postmarked no later than January 31 with a report of the previous year's earnings. In April of each year, Dog Adventures Northwest will include all 1099s in its reporting to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).
Commission statements are generated by Dog Adventures Northwest through the Time to Pet online management system and are emailed directly to each Contractor on the 15th and the last day of each month for work on the 1st-15th of the month and the 16th-last day of the month, respectively. Contractors are paid on the 15th and the last day of each month via direct deposit, using an online ACH transfer service called Melio.
Taxes are not taken out of the the commission statements that Contractors receive from Dog Adventures Northwest; Contractors are HIGHLY encouraged to set aside between 25% and 30% of all of earnings for taxes in a separate account. Contractors are responsible for their own accounting and tax filing. Contractors are also responsible for paying for their own car, gas, and supplies, and are encouraged to track mileage and other business-related expenses to calculate tax deductions.

** Accepted certifications for training and adventures include any certification through a nationally-accredited organization that applies coursework, hands-on hours, and an application/exam toward certification and requires continuing education to maintain certification. These include:

Please note that Independent Contractors are not eligible for unemployment benefits. In the event of termination of contract, initiated by either party, a Contractor may not claim unemployment benefits through the State of Oregon.
